Quaker Oats Project
Challenge
Tasked with re-making a print ad found in a magazine, then creating a digital campaign as an extension of that ad.
The advertisement my group and I found was for Quaker Oats in a FamilyCircle magazine. We believed the new ad was too basic, bland, and easily skipped past. We wanted to make the new ad more engaging, energetic, and fun.
solution
Focus on evoking family ties and emotional responses from FamilyCircle’s readers, who were primarily mothers. To do this, we set up a photoshoot with a our little friend Charlie.
We created a campaign around #LittleHelpers in the kitchen, showcasing imagery of families baking in the kitchen together. Our first print ad features a take away recipe and a QR code that linked to the QO Recipes website.
We chose to use Facebook for our digital ad to promote the #LittleHelpers campaign and the QO Recipes website. Our goal was to engage the audience asking them to submit photos and videos of their #LitttleHelpers in the kitchen (I mean, who doesn’t love watching videos of babies making a mess?)
RESULTS
1 print ad, 1 Facebook Canvas ad, 1 video ad example, social media graphics, and photos to use for future promotions.
Survey results showed attitudes changed from “boring, informative, outdated” (original ad) to “fun, happy, sweet & wholesome” with the print ad re-make.
Once finished, each group in our class presented their campaigns to our professor and a team of judges.
Our team scored highest both rounds.
